Voddie Baucham on Gay Marriage

Christian America is turning more and more secular. In the name of unity, acceptance, and the catchphrase of the day, tolerance, many Evangelicals are taking on liberal secular views and applying it to their faith. At the center of this is gay marriage.

There’s a challenge with the standard idea of loving the sinner but hating the sin. It’s not enough for atheists, secularists, and liberal Christians. By their measure, we have to love the sinner and reverse our perspective about whether homosexual activity is even a sin in the first place. This is completely unacceptable. We should love those who believe they are homosexual and we must condemn their fulfillment of those desires. When we start to accept that those desires are natural or not sinful, we start to head down a very dark path.

As we’ve discussed in the past, there’s a risk of corporate judgement that should be considered, but with the geopolitical atmosphere we find ourselves in, we have to start accepting that the battle lines have been drawn. Reversing the Supreme Court’s gay marriage ruling is going to take time if it’s ever done at all, so we must shift to winning the hearts and minds of those who are either on the fence or starting to lean left on the issue.

For something like this, we defer to Voddie Baucham.

In this speech about gay marriage, we learn quite a bit in a short period of time about the challenges that we face with a country that’s accepting gay marriage and how to address them in a Biblical manner.
