Only 28 American refugees fled to Canada after the election. None of them were celebrities.

Remember the rash of vows by American celebrities that they would leave the United States if Donald Trump won the election? With nearly a month-and-a-half to plan and execute their exodus, a total of none of them have left.

Social media buzzed about the masses of “regular” people who would leave as well. Canada was prepared to open the floodgates and take in the survivors of the American apocalypse with open arms. Since the election, a total of 28 Americans have applied for Trump-related refugee status. Unfortunately for these endangered liberals, their requests might not work even with so few of them.

According to Heat Street:

Of the 28 who applied, it’s possible none will be approved to relocate to America’s northern neighbor. The CBC found only two successful claims for asylum out of hundreds of cases filed from the U.S. since 2010. There was no successful claim out of the 170 filed in 2015.

The bad news for the rest of us is that the leftist Hollywood types have failed to follow through with their threats as well. According to The Blaze:

Among those who said they would leave are: Bryan Cranston, Rosie O’Donnell, Jon Stewart and Whoopi Goldberg, Miley Cyrus, Amy Schumer, Cher, Samuel Jackson, Lena Dunham, Barbara Streisand, Raven-Symone and others.

None of them have followed through and several have said following Trump’s election to the White House that they were simply “joking” when they made their vow.

Just when conservatives thought we’d have fewer progressives to deal with, they declined to follow through with their promises. This is just another case of how liberals are often all bark, no bite.

Christians who opposed Trump must open their minds to the sovereignty of God

I thoroughly opposed Donald Trump through the primaries. When he was nominated, I searched for a conservative alternative. On election day, I didn’t vote for either of the major party candidates and “wasted” my vote (though I could write a tome about the fact that there’s no such thing as a wasted vote, but now’s not the time). As I posted yesterday, things have changed. He’s now going to be President and we must push him in the right direction.

There’s another angle that I didn’t address yesterday: the conscientious Christian worldview. My opposition to Trump was not based solely on my faith and my view that he doesn’t share it. There were more political reasons that fueled my opposition. Other Christians opposed Trump specifically because of his stated lack of understanding and adherence to a Biblical worldview. To those of you who fall into this category, I now ask you to follow a new direction regarding the President-elect.

You don’t have to like him. You don’t even have to support him (though any American President deserves our respect even if only for the office itself and its role in defending the Constitution). All I’m asking is that you view his presidency with an open mind based upon our understanding of the omnipotence and sovereignty of God.

Do I believe that God “chose” Trump as so many Christians have postulated? Yes, but not for the reasons that people like Michele Bachmann have suggested. Instead of Trump being chosen to make America great again, I believe it’s more likely that he was chosen much in the same way that Saul was chosen. Through the prophets, God warned Israel that they didn’t need a king but they essentially demanded it, so God gave them the reprehensible King Saul. This decision led to David and Solomon, so an argument can be made that Saul was a necessary evil to get to better kings. Unfortunately, Solomon was followed by Rehoboam who effectively split the nation for nearly three millennia.

We must always remember that God is in control. Free will is granted to men, but it is God’s will that brings about our leaders. That’s not to say we have no responsibility for matters. It’s often challenging to reconcile the free will granted to man with the supreme will that enacts God’s plan. I can’t offer a simple explanation other than portions of the Bible that prove it to me, but there’s a long explanation (more like a theory) that I may tackle some day. In the meantime, we simply have to accept the Biblical validity of these apparently contradictory concepts.

God could make Trump a great President. He could turn him into the downfall of the nation. He can use him as a tool to usher in someone else, to take down a system, or to take individual actions that fulfill portions of God’s plan. As Christians, we have to shift from the campaign perspective that Trump isn’t the right man for the job to the post-election perspective that he’s the person we need to watch and even guide at times.

Nothing is impossible for God. If He can free the Hebrews from the clutches of the Egyptians, he can make Trump fulfill whatever role he’s intended to play in God’s plan. That means that we cannot allow our personal distaste or mistrust cloud our own Biblical worldview. We need to watch what happens and react accordingly without the bias we may feel against the President-elect. We don’t have to like him nor trust him, but we should be watchful of his actions and react to where they lead us. When he does well, support him. When he does poorly, we may dissent. It’s the only truly Biblical way to handle any politician.

The difference between Trump and past Presidents is that Trump makes it harder to both support and oppose. That paradox has spread to his supporters. As such, we must remain diligent. Just because we don’t know God’s plan doesn’t mean we ca’t recognize it as it plays out.

From #NeverTrump to #StuckWithTrump: Why I now focus solely on the issues

There haven’t been very many times that I praised anything about Donald Trump on this blog. Most of those moments were in relations to Hillary Clinton, the only Democrat so distasteful that she could lose to him. I consider myself the hipster version of #NeverTrumpers; I opposed his liberalism before it became cool.

Things have changed. He’s going to be the President of the United States in a little over a month. There’s no longer anything for me to oppose about him as a person or a candidate. It’s not that those issues disappeared. It’s that opposing them no longer offers any benefit. It’s time to shift gears and focus on the only things that are politically important for the next 2-4 years (depending on how the GOP performs in the 2018 election): the issues.

I’ll be first to admit that some of Trump’s choices for cabinet have been positive. It’s not like I expected to hate all of them, so this shouldn’t come as a surprise. James Mattis and Jeff Sessions are both solid choices. Mick Mulvaney could turn out to be an excellent choice and, though I know very little about him, David Friedman seems to have the right perspectives on Israel.

They say when you’re going to say something mean about someone, you should start with the positives. So far, those are all of them.

Before I get to the negatives, it’s important to understand my stance. With Trump and the GOP in charge in Washington DC and in most states, this is a grand opportunity. I go in with low expectations about how they will handle their power because they’ve given very few indications they will use it appropriately. As a proud member of the new Federalist Party, my greatest hope in American government is that Washington DC will dramatically reduce its own powers in all three forms: budget, bureaucracy, and power. That should be the primary long-term goal of the GOP, but so far it seems to be very low on the totem pole. In fact, it seems like most of the talk out of Republicans lately have surrounded measures that will increase budgets while only offering token reductions in bureaucracy and power.

This is why it’s all about the issues for me going forward. If I allow myself to look at the individuals, my low expectations will go even lower. The people in charge, from Trump to Mitch McConnell to Rex Tillerson to Paul Ryan, all seem to be against the concept of reducing government power. They talk about smaller government, but the changes they’re proposing are infinitesimal compared to the actions that are truly necessary.

Briefly, here are the issues that concern me. Each could have their own set of blog posts written about them, but I’ll keep it limited to bullet points. If you don’t recognize that these are problems, it would be hard to convince you even with longer explanations.

  • Carrier’s crony capitalism deal
  • Taking down defense industry stock prices with Tweets that hurt American investors
  • Touting a $50B investment from a “Japanese firm” that gets the vast majority of its funds from Saudi Arabia
  • Reince Priebus
  • Outrageously expensive infrastructure plans (for which Trump is leaning towards the Schumer plan rather than the McConnell plan)
  • Ivanka’s daycare initiative
  • Obamacare uncertainty (this isn’t hard: assess, prepare to replace, repeal, then replace)

There are other potential concerns from the relationship with Vladimir Putin to his softening on illegal immigration and deportations, but those and most other concerns can’t be fully understood until he’s in office. Items in the list above are all already concerning.

When the government does the right things, I’ll cheer regardless of who’s doing it or their party allegiance. When they do the wrong things as most of them are wont to do, I’ll oppose loudly. This is no longer a question of personalities or history. With the election over, it’s all about the issues, so they will become my primary political focus. I encourage everyone else to take a similar approach.

No, OSU, Abdul Razak Ali Artan was not killed by police because of race

Fearlessness and lack of discernment are often dangerous bedfellows. As innocuous as it may seem, the dangerous combination has reared its head in a potentially disastrous way at Ohio State University. The Coalition of Black Liberation reads the names of black people killed by police every week. This week, they added the name of Abdul Razak Ali Artan to the list.

For those who don’t remember, Artan is the Ohio State student who went on a car-ramming, knife-wielding rampage on campus. Thankfully, he was unable to kill anyone, but he did injure several and it could have been much worse. He was shot and killed by police.

That’s where the danger of the radical campus group’s decision comes into play. For a while now, these groups have mixed together people who were clearly dangerous and committing crimes with those who shouldn’t have been killed. This type of narrative jamming is typical, but normally there are lines drawn. One such line is that we normally don’t classify the police killing of an attempted murderer and/or terrorists in with people who were killed during traffic stops, but that’s what they’re now doing. The danger: when protests are lodged against clearly righteous kills, it becomes protest/riot-worthy every time someone of a particular race is killed by police.

This should worry us all.

Instead of portraying terrorists and attempted murderers as victims, perhaps these groups should spend more time cheering for law enforcement when they’re defending the lives of innocent people. It would make their other protests much more powerful. Instead, they’ve chosen to make a mockery of their entire movement.

Here’s an excerpt from The Lantern:

“Abudl Razak Ali Artan was a BUCKEYE, a member of our family. If you think it is ok to celebrate his death and/or share pictures of his dead body and I see it in my timeline, I will unfriend you. I pray you find compassion for his life, as troubled as it clearly was. Think of the pain he must have been in to feel that his actions were the only solution. We must come together in this time of tragedy. #BuckeyeStrong #BlackLivesMatter #SayHisName”

Dear John Kasich: Sign the “Heartbeat Bill”

How the fight against abortion will be fought for the next 2-4 years can be shaped by one man: Ohio Governor John Kasich. He has the opportunity to sign the “Heartbeat Bill” which would prohibit doctors from committing abortions once a heartbeat is detected. This happens as early as six weeks.

The Governor has expressed some concerns. While he’s pro-life, his views lean towards the moderate end of the spectrum. There are controversial pieces to the bill, most notably the prohibition on abortions even in cases of rape or incest. Kasich has stated that he believes in exceptions for abortions.

There’s another factor that’s being considered: court challenges. If he signs the bill, it will turn Ohio into ground zero for abortion activists. There will be more protests and legal challenges filed in the state than it’s ever seen before. Kasich, considered a pragmatic leader, will use this as the reason to veto the bill if he does. This would be a mistake. It’s time for challenges. It’s time to test the court system to see what it will take to fight this battle in other states. Pragmatic conservatives will say that we need to stack the courts first, but this would be a mistake. Because legal challenges take so long to prepare and moving up the court system is a tedious process, we must start now. If we wait, it’s possible for the courts to already be reversed if Donald Trump loses in 2020.

Assuming that Trump keeps to his promise of nominating a staunchly pro-life Supreme Court justice, this may be the best time in modern history to make an impact in the war on abortion. By the time the Heartbeat Bill reaches the Supreme Court, Trump’s nominee should be confirmed.

By signing the bill, Kasich will stretch the limits and encourage other states to prepare to head in the same direction. They will all be watching to see how it plays out in the courts, but being the “first on the dance floor” gives Ohio the opportunity to set the agenda. Currently, most states have various restrictions on abortion prohibition ranging from “viability” or the third trimester up to 24 weeks. By pushing the limit all the way up to heartbeat status, around 6 or 7 weeks from conception, other states will be able to get their own similar legislation ready.

I’ve never been a big fan of John Kasich, but his stalwart opposition to Donald Trump demonstrated that he’s willing to stick to his guns. This is a time when he needs his guns pointed in the right direction. It will give him pause from a moral perspective to stretch the limits so far and to include rape or incest. It will seem like the impractical move for a practical politician to make. He must push all of those urges aside and act boldly now for the sake of the fight against abortion. Blinking now will allow the opportunity to pass. Millions of future Americans can be saved by a signature. Sign the bill, Governor.

Why the Federalist Party isn’t raising money. Yet.

Ever since buzz started hitting the internet about the new Federalist Party, there have been people reaching out to me consistently asking how to donate. The quick answer is, “don’t, at least not yet.”

There are reasons that I’ll get into shortly about why we’re considering not taking donations at all, but let’s start with the longer answer about how to at least pledge right now. The party set up a pledge page that allows members to promise future donations without having to send money now or give any financial information such as credit card data. It’s important that we get an understanding of how much we’ll be able to collect if and when we do start collecting, so getting semi-committed pledges is the bast way to do it.

One of the important premises behind the Federalist Party is that we believe in the power of the market and the individuals driving it over the power of government which often hampers more than it helps. Solutions for the majority of problems Americans face come best when they’re provided by the private sector. That’s not universal; we wouldn’t want a private military as our primary national defense, for example, but when it comes to most needs, if the government stepped out of the way and allowed people to solve problems in lieu of having their tax dollars wasted through government programs, everyone would be happier.

The challenge is that Americans have been brainwashed into believing that government should be solving the problems directly. This wasn’t always the case. It was less than a century ago when the people believed in their own abilities more than the ability of government to fix their problems. The Great Depression and subsequent solutions started the shift away from this mentality and by the 1960s, the people were much more heavily dependent on the government. The irony is that the problems that initiated this shift were created as a result of the government trying to interfere too much in private affairs, but that’s a conspiracy theory to unpack at another time.

Because we believe that private organizations can outperform public ones, we are strongly considering running the national party essentially as a business. Rather than file it as a tax-exempt entity operating off of funds that weren’t earned but rather begged from the people, we are considering earning our funds at the national level.

As the state level, this isn’t possible, and that’s fine. The strongest tenet of this party is that it should be able to operate with the same mentality that we would run the country once we have our officials in office: separation of powers between the state party organization and the national entity. While the states and individual candidates will still have to follow the rules in order to get on ballots and acquire voter lists, the national organization will be free to operate with the flexibility that comes from not having a dependence on donations or a tax exempt status.

Again, this is all still under consideration, which is why accumulating pledges is so important. If, after looking at the legalities and logistics, we come to the conclusion that a national party structure operating as a corporation will work, we’ll take that path. We would rather earn the party’s revenue rather than beg for it or accept federal funds. We will still maintain all of the mandated transparencies associated with 527 tax exempt organization, but we will pay taxes. Why should we not pay taxes and beg money from people who do pay taxes? That’s not the American way, nor is it the Federalist way, but it’s the way that every other party has chosen. We aren’t like every other party.

In case you missed it, I’m a Federalist

Of all of the websites I contribute to, this has always and will always be my favorite. It’s the second website I ever personally owned and it represents more of my direct feelings. Yes, there have been a few guest contributors, but for the most part it has been all my writing lately. It’s the way it should be.

For this reason, I sometimes forget to post to it. That’s not a representation of my sentiment towards the site, but things have been really crazy thanks to a combination of necessity and blessing. I often assume that all of the readers of this site know exactly what I’m doing based upon what I do on other sites. In case you don’t here it is…

Most things are as they were a year ago. I’m still learning (and occasionally teaching) the Bible. I’m still enjoying my family. My business is doing well and I’m working on new initiatives within it. Then, there’s the politics. Most of my political efforts were done in the form of daily posts through the primaries, but we lost. Donald Trump was nominated, so my attentions shifted towards seeking an alternative.

We tried many different parties. I contacted pretty much every party running a conservative that I could find, even if they weren’t big enough to make an impact. What I quickly learned was that they weren’t simply victims of low media coverage. They were victims of disorganization and lack of growth plans. I actually nearly lost hope in prospects for the future, but something happened. A wild idea turned into a quick inquiry. That inquiry was met with so much enthusiasm that I expanded the idea to a plan. The plan was working much better than I expected, so I started contacting more people about it, particularly those in the media. By the time all was said and done, I found myself heading into election day with a solid foundation upon which to build a new conservative political party.

After election day, the Federalist Party will be born.

I know what you’re thinking because I thought it myself. Third parties can’t win in the United States. What I know that you don’t is that the reason third parties don’t work is because we accept that they don’t work. More importantly, we’ve never seen a third party with the gumption and strategy to make itself work, to break through the imaginary boundary that protects the two major parties.

Here is not the place to go into details yet and it’s about time to take the family to a movie, so I’ll leave you with this thought: If we can suspend disbelief in the possibility of a viable third party, we can actually make it happen, God willing. That’s what I’ve been working on lately. I’m hopeful that you will join us in this project.

“Conservative” media needs to stop acting like Obama’s journopuppets for Trump

Look, I get it. You want Trump to win. You’re a journalist for a “conservative” media outlet and you want to paint Donald Trump in the best light possible. Stick to the facts. Paint a proper picture. With Hillary Clinton on the other side, you don’t need to paint him as a superhuman, fearless avatar of strength. We’ve already seen eight years of that with Barack Obama’s crony media.

The headline below appears on a Trumpyte publication, Lifezette, operated by Laura Ingraham. For the record, I’m not a Trump supporter. I believe in conservative principles, most of which Mr. Trump fails to appreciate or support. Still, he’s the GOP nominee and the alternative is horrendous, so I can appreciate those who want him to win because he’s a better option. I don’t completely disagree, but this headline is over the top.

Trump Yellow Journalism

No, he didn’t stare down a threat. If you watch the video, he’s looking out into the crowd to see what the commotion is, just as he’s done dozens of times when protesters hit his campaign events. Thankfully, he didn’t say something stupid this time that could have gotten someone in the audience hurt. When the Secret Service agent first came over, Trump did not stare defiantly. He reacted a little slowly, not because he was triumphantly staring down the threat but because he’s a 70-year-old man who’s slow to react to threats. Once he realized he needed to move, he followed his escort appropriately to the pre-determined spot backstage (most likely in an armored vehicle waiting outside for him) and awaited further instructions.

This wasn’t bad. He did exactly as he should whether he’s a candidate or the President. Painting this as anything other than an appropriate response to a potential threat is yellow journalism at it’s finest.

John Kasich stays true by clowning himself with his vote

On one hand, Ohio Governor and former Presidential candidate John Kasich did the right thing by choosing not to vote for the liberal Republican nominee Donald Trump. Then, he wiped out his credibility by using his protest vote on the liberal Senator from Arizona John McCain.

There are a few options available to Kasich who are not only much more conservative but who are actually running for President. Constitution Party’s Darrell Castle, America’s Party’s Tom Hoeffling, and independent Evan McMullin are all available for Kasich to write in, but he chose the one guy who won’t be getting a substantial number of protest votes.

This is John Kasich being John Kasich at his finest. More from Mediaite:

As other GOP presidential candidates have eventually relented and offered their support to Trump, such as former critics Marco Rubioand Ted Cruz, Kasich has held firm. During the Republican National Convention, Kasich stayed far away, despite it being held in Cleveland.

Now is not the time for secrecy, Director Comey

As Los Angeles Times and Red State report, the FBI will accelerate its efforts to go through the 650,000 emails on Anthony Weiner’s computer to prepare an initial report. What the FBI has not committed to is releasing this early report. That’s not acceptable.

There are times during an investigation when secrecy is important. This is not one of those times. There are no upcoming criminal activities that need to be thwarted. There is also no way for the information in their possession to be manipulated. In other words, they don’t have any reason to hide.

On the other hand, we’re talking about the future of the United States. With the Presidential election coming up, it’s imperative that voters have as much information as possible before voting. If there’s a reason to believe that Hillary Clinton was involved in activities such as proactively attempting to thwart an investigation, voters need to know.

Here’s excerpts from RedState and LA Times:

Investigators had planned to conduct the review over several weeks but, after a torrent of criticism over the weekend, began scrambling to examine the trove of emails, according to law enforcement officials. The FBI hoped to complete a preliminary assessment in the coming days, but agency officials have not decided how, or whether, they will disclose the results of it publicly, and officials also could not say whether the entire review would be completed by election day.

What is the FBI thinking? Comey throws out his bombshell less than two weeks before the election. Then we learn the FBI is talking about 650,000 emails and that they hadn’t even bothered to get a warrant to allow them to review the emails. Nor did they bother to tell Director Comey about the emails for weeks. And now suddenly they get their warrant Sunday and now the say they might “complete a preliminary assessment in the coming days,” whatever that means.

Trump, Breitbart, and others took down the GOP to build a media empire

There’s a scene in Zero Dark Thirty when the main character, Maya, is asked what she believed the chances were that Osama bin Laden was hiding in the compound where he was later killed. She replied, “100% he’s there. OK, 95%, ’cause I know certainty freaks you guys out, but it’s 100.”

Depending on whether or not your support Donald Trump, you’ll either consider the latest revelations of coordination between Breitbart reporters and Democratic operatives as nothing at all or further proof that Trump has had as his primary goal the formation of his media empire after the election. As someone who views Trump as only slightly less liberal and damaging than Hillary Clinton, it’s clear to me that Breitbart, Drudge Report, Infowars, Gateway Pundit, and other ultra-pro-Trump sites were banking on getting him nominated and then subsequently rising into his empire when he loses.

To one degree or another, they took advantage of their power as “conservative” media to denigrate actual Republicans who had much better chances of beating Clinton like Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio. My initial assessment back in January was that their motivation was viewership and money; a Trump nomination and subsequent loss would be an ideal atmosphere for these sites to operate and profit. Dissent drives visitors. Opposition gets page views. At the time, I couldn’t conceive of them selling out completely. Now, I will avoid full-blown accusations (Trump and co. are lawsuit-happy, after all), but it’s fair to say that they all benefit more from a Trump nomination than from any other candidate.

According to Politico’s source:

“He worked directly with Breitbart’s political team on the ground in the primary states to sabotage Marco Rubio & Ted Cruz, and elect Trump as nominee of [the Republican] party,” the source told POLITICO. “[Black] was coordinating with [Breitbart’s] top staff to rabble rouse against Rubio at rallies.”

Working with the Democrats to deliver to them the candidate they wanted to face from the start is despicable. Taking down the Republican Party along the way is even worse, but there’s a silver lining. We get to see who’s on their own side and who’s on America’s side as we build our conservative party. Still, it’s disheartening to those of us who have trusted these sites over the years. It’s a betrayal that goes beyond greed or corruption. This was a truly damaging situation that they’ve created… at least for the rest of us.

It’s a win-win for them. If he is able to win the election, they will be rewarded as the stalwart group who fought the Establishment and accomplished what was once thought to be impossible. If they lose, their places in Trump’s media empire are secured. Either way, they were able to sell out America for the sake of personal gain. It disgusts me, not because they are corrupt (most media is corrupt to some extent) but because they’re going to get away with it.

Now, we can look forward to even more exposure for headlines like this…

Breitbart Headlines

We can expect to see family entertainment looking more like this…

Trump TV

All of this could have been avoided. I don’t completely blame the publications and news outlets that are allegedly involved. It’s our fault as well. We either didn’t see it coming or we didn’t blow the horns loudly enough. Then, there are those who don’t seem to be directly involved but who did nothing to stop it such as Rush Limbaugh, Hugh Hewitt, and a ton of conservative websites who hopped on the Trump Train early but who are likely not part of Trump’s plan. These websites are run by true believers in Trump. That means their not complicit in the conspiracy, but their complicit from lack of discernment.

Can any of this be proven? Nope. It’s all speculation based upon evidence and circumstances that all seem to point in the same direction. Since certainty seems to freak everybody out, I’ll put the chances at 95%. But it’s 100.

We must do better against Hillary than we did against Obama

Before we talk about Hillary Clinton, let’s talk briefly about Donald Trump. I’m not in the camp that believes he’s definitely going to lose the election despite all of the media indicators such as polls and buzz. That doesn’t mean I’m calling this election rigged, but I’m also not going to fall victim to the experience and common sense that told us long ago Trump couldn’t win the primary, either. This is a weird election year, so dismissing Trump before the fat lady sings is foolish.

With that said, let’s discuss the more likely scenario: President Hillary. Mark Levin is calling for preparations for impeachment. He’s right, but that cannot be our only recourse against the disastrous liberalism she will attempt to rain down on the country. Impeaching anyone, especially a President, is extremely difficult. While some plan for that attempt, let’s tale a look at the other things conservatives must do to save the country from Hillary.

2018 starts November 9th

As Captain America said in Avengers: Age of Ultron, “You get killed… walk it off.”

It doesn’t matter what happens in the Senate, House, and in state races on November 8th. Take a breath, eat a burger, wrap yourself in good ol’ American patriotism and get to work the next day. If the GOP retains a majority in Congress, pretend like it’s on the verge of dissolving. We have to push forward with our conservative philosophies intact in order to defend America and the righteous cause of freedom. Hillary is going to try to take those freedoms away. The left will try to take majorities or expand on the ones they already have.

This election cycle has been physically and emotionally draining. Take whatever brief actions you need to take and then get back in the ring.

Do not accept the bending and breaking Congress did for Obama

In Obama’s first term, we were told early on that we needed to have majorities in order to fight him, so we won the GOP the House in 2010. We were then told it wasn’t enough, that we needed the Senate as well, so we gave them a majority in the Senate in 2014. What have they done in two years with a majority in both chambers? Nothing. We have seen no difference in Obama’s policies. Spending has increased. The Republican-controlled Congress gave Obama everything he wanted.

Regardless of who controls Congress after the election, it’s imperative for conservatives to impede Hillary’s liberal efforts with every ounce of their being. Senator Ted Cruz shut down the government over Obamacare without a majority in 2013 and then the Senate take the majority a year later. That is the type of leadership that will be needed to halt Clinton’s moves.

It’s important to understand that Clinton is left of Obama in many areas, but she’s to the right of him in others. Republicans should not impede every move. They simply need to impede the liberal moves. Does that mean I expect Clinton to have some conservative perspectives? No. Of course not. But then again, I didn’t expect Obama to have any, either, and he did from time to time. We have to oppose for the sake of America, not simply to stop Hillary. In the rare circumstance where she wants to do something good, the GOP (and America) should support her.

Don’t worry. It won’t happen often.

Be bold

Conservatives have a tendency of being bold when it counts the most. When they’re opposing liberals, they fight as hard as they can. However, they also tend to go partisan when it comes to less-than-conservative issues. We have to be bold and conservative across the board. That means when Mitch McConnell does nothing to stop the giveaway of the internet, we need him to know we disapprove. When Congress sends a spending bill through that pays for every liberal program under the sun, we need to give them hell over it. When they let people like John Koskinen get away with their crimes without impeachment because they fear election attacks, we must prove their theory wrong.

It’s hard for conservatives to ever vote against the GOP because they’re almost always to the right of Democrats. However, we have absolutely no leverage over them. They know we’ll vote for them and reluctantly support them because the alternative is worse. We need to be able to pull them to the right or else. That’s why it’s time to…

Build a new party

Conservatives need a party of their own. There are rumors of other parties being built. That’s great. Let’s unite. We have one that is growing and vibrant today even though it won’t officially launch until after the election.

If the Republicans know that we’ll support conservatives whether they run for the GOP or not, we’ll have leverage. We’ll select the conservatives in races and support them all the way through. If they get the GOP nomination, we’ll support them. If they don’t get the GOP nomination, we’ll let them run under our umbrella and still support them. This is an important concept to understand because it gives the GOP an incentive to support the conservative. We must stand tall and stick with the conservative no matter what. If the GOP loses an election or two over split votes, they’ll quickly learn that the only way to consolidate the vote is by supporting the conservative.

That’s an oversimplified variation of the strategy, but it should make sense.

The only way we can survive the wave of liberalism that is flooding the country is if we unite behind our righteous conservative philosophies. Hillary Clinton will be a disaster, but we can make it through her term just as we made it through Obama. We didn’t come out unscathed and there will be damage done over the next four years regardless of who wins the Presidential election, but if we stand strong behind our beliefs, we’ll be able to move America back in the right direction.

A Biblical worldview of abortion and why we shouldn’t argue from experiences alone

This election cycle has brought abortion back into the national spotlight where it belongs. Unfortunately, it was barely mentioned until the final Presidential debate. Even worse, the answers from both candidates were different degrees of wrong.

We’re not here to judge whether Donald Trump’s unwillingness to go beyond nominating conservatives in his “fight” against abortion was good enough. We’re not even going to condemn that militantly pro-abortion perspective that Hillary Clinton has adopted. Instead, we need to have a better understanding of the nature of the fight we face.

First, here’s a 42-minute video of Voddie Baucham discussing the issue followed by my input. If you have to choose between the two for the sake of time, watch the video. His perspectives are much more important and compelling.

Here’s what we need to understand. We will never be able to win the war against abortion in America (and eventually the world) if we continue to fight from the wrong perspectives. The Biblical perspective is the truth and is very clear in its lessons. We have to start fighting from that perspective even if we’re not talking to Christians. The standard practice is for pro-lifers to argue from either personal experience or by taking on the moral question of life itself. We tend to use science to show that preborn babies in the womb are alive. We try to use statistics about how would-be mothers get depressed after abortions. We use personal stories of women who chose not to abort their babies despite pressure from their doctors and/or families only to have fulfilled lives as a result of giving birth.

These are the wrong core arguments. They have their place in the discussion, but they can’t replace the core Biblical perspective. Even for non-believers, the core Biblical perspective of a human’s right to live rings true through every reasonable ethical paradigm. A preborn child is a life that is unable to defend itself, therefore those who have the ability to defend it are bound to do so. Period. When we break from that perspective and start laying down guidelines about when life actually begins or what circumstances allow for exceptions to the rule of life itself, we’re fighting the wrong core fight. There’s nothing wrong with taking the fight to their turf; the isolation they create for themselves means that giving them home field advantage is our only way to make our argument in most cases. However, we are not obligate to only use the weapons they have given themselves: stories, statistics, and political definitions. Our weapon is the morality that permeates throughout history’s best established philosophies and that is made absolute through the primacy of our Bible.

The fact that they don’t agree with our Biblical premise does not mean we are forced to argue only based upon their premises. They can pick the venue. We must pick our own weapons and our own combat strategies. Otherwise, we’re going to continue to spin our wheels as we have been for over 50 years.

On a national level, the conservative base must be built from the House

2017 is going to mark several “beginnings” for conservatives. Establishment Republicans will try to push their reset button after trouncing conservatives and getting partially trounced by Democrats. Conservative Republicans will begin to rebuild their momentum after hitting the Establishment roadblock that halted many Tea Party candidates and their agendas. Libertarians will try to rebuild after failing miserably in the year that gave them the best shot of hitting the debate floor and making an impact in national elections. Smaller conservative parties like the Constitution Party will begin their rebranding after failing to be a blip on the radar again.

Another classification of beginnings will also launch. I’ve heard from at least a dozen different attempts at forming new parties. Some, such as Rick Wilson’s crew, will attempt to build new moderate and pragmatic version of the GOP that can prepare candidates in the vein of Jeb Bush, John McCain, and Marco Rubio. Their main goal is to bring down the scourge of the alt-right that has infiltrated the Republican Party. Others, such as ours conservative party, will attempt to work from the true right to bring Constitutional conservatism roaring back to national prominence, It’s this new beginning that I want to focus on here.

Our plans are to launch after this election and prepare candidates from the ground up. We want city council members. We want mayors. We want school board members. We want leaders at the local level who can help to build coalitions of conservatives among the base in preparation for bigger things to come. It must be a rapid ascension; regardless of who wins this Presidential election, we intend to be a force when the next Presidential election rolls around. To do this, we have to build the base and expand to state and national races. The only realistic way to make an impact nationally is to focus first on the House of Representatives.

This is more than just for the sake of party prudence. It’s the House that has the highest concentration of conservatives through the Freedom Caucus and other groups that are able to influence the direction. This needs to grow. Over time, it needs to embrace our voters as their base. Today, this seems like a huge challenge, but the pace at which we’re growing is nothing short of spectacular. We’re picking up thousands of handraisers per week without having officially launched. We don’t even have our official name chosen yet. This preliminary momentum is exponentially higher than we projected when we started the project in August. By comparison, some of the other “parties” that we’ve been monitoring have failed to pick up a fraction of our size and momentum.

What does this tell us? We’re on the right track. Our focus on the core principles of life, freedom, and smaller federal government fill a need that’s currently not being met by the GOP, Libertarians, or any of the smaller parties. It’s not about policies; every variation of a conservative party has the same basic focus points. The difference is that we’re approaching this with a plan of action and a message of hope shrouded in reality.

The House of Representatives is the only part of the federal government that can rapidly shift. With the entire body elected every two years, it’s conceivable to put forth winners in 2018 and grab GOP defectors before 2020. The conservative wing of the House has great people. Many of them may be willing to switch to our party once it’s clear that we have enough voters behind us. This is why organizing it all is so imperative. This is why we’re starting now.

There’s so much more to bring up but until we’re officially launched, it’s all just a blueprint. Once we get this rolling after the election, things will move rapidly. We need to get as many handraisers signed up for updates as possible before then.If you’re ready to make an impact by bringing conservatism back to the forefront of American political thought, please consider signing up.

2008 video of Trump gushing over Hillary shows why you can’t believe anything he says

Today, Donald Trump goes after everything that has to do with Hillary Clinton. He’s been accused of being hypocritical in his attacks since he was admittedly a friend of the Clintons for decades, but he claims that he never really discussed much about their politics.

A newly uncovered interview from 2008 paints a very different story.

“I think she’s going to go down at a minimum as a great Senator,” he said. “I think she is a great wife to a President and I think Bill Clinton was a great President.”

It’s important to understand that this was not Trump simply being polite to friends. He laid down praise on top of praise in an attempt to prove his case that the Clinton years were wonderful and Hillary deserves more. He went so far as to point out specifics with the economy and foreign relations that made it clear he approved of Bill Clinton’s actions and leadership.

It’s also important to note that the majority of Trump’s attacks against the Clintons are for things that they did before 2008, things that were already well-known about them. He didn’t completely reverse his tune during this election season based upon new information. He simply needs to attack her, so whatever his real feelings are towards them aren’t important.

You can see the video from the source at NY1 here, or you can watch this video apparently ripped from CNN (sorry if it’s taken down before you get to see it, but there are no other quality videos available on YouTube):

Jerry Falwell Jr. has killed liberty at Liberty University

It’s the job of the President of a university (and every member of the staff, for that matter) to guide and teach students in preparation for their lives as adults living in American and building their dreams. It’s not the job of a President of a university (nor any staff member) to impede students in their education or to prevent them from utilizing their God-given right of expression. Liberty University President Jerry Falwell Jr. allegedly did both.

This has only been corroborated by one source over that Daily Beast, so we won’t declare it as 100% fact yet. However, the circumstances described seem to fit perfectly with how Falwell has acted since being bough by… I mean endorsing Donald Trump for President. Allegedly, an anti-Trump opinion piece was written by one of the columnists at the school’s newspaper. Falwell nixed the piece, citing some lame excuse about how they’re already publishing too much about Trump.

The reality is that the column works against Falwell’s Trumpian agenda. He wants Trump to be President for whatever reason, even bypassing proven Constitutional Christian conservatives in favor of the adulterous, unrepentant Trump. We’re not talking about a Mark Levin or Dennis Prager who fought hard against Trump through the primaries but hopped on board the Trump Train in an effort to stop Hillary Clinton. We’re talking about someone who stood shoulder-to-shoulder with Trump to embrace his heretical form of leadership.

They didn’t print the piece. Therefore, we’re going to post it here, courtesy of the Daily Beast. Enjoy…

As a former male athlete, I know exactly what high school guys talk about when they think they are alone. It absolutely can be vulgar and objectifying to women. But here’s the thing — I have never in my life heard guys casually talk about preying on women in a sexual manner.

Trust me, I hated the way the guys talked on the field during practice or in the halls at school. It was downright dirty. Some would call it “locker room talk.” In other words, guys talking about the things they supposedly did with their girls. The conversation never turned to the things they were going to do to a girl.

While I do not condone premarital sexual activity, guys talking about the things they do with their girlfriends is part of today’s culture. On the other hand, when a guy talks about what they are going to do to a girl, that is when it is no longer locker room talk, but pre-meditated sexual assault.

Some examples of this kind of talk are “I just start kissing them. It’s like a magnet. Just kiss. I don’t even wait.” This is not a joke. Men do not casually say things like this. This is not locker room talk. Anyone who says otherwise is just trying to excuse the terrible things they or others have said.

If a high school male was heard talking like this, I would hope appropriate action would be taken. This might involve counseling and some sort of punishment. Not because punishment would magically fix what he said, but to ensure he understands the severity of what he said. So he understands that sexual assault is not a joke. So he understands that women are to be cherished, not spoken of as property.

But when an adult in his late ‘50s says things like “when you’re a star, they let you do it. You can do anything,” that should be a major red flag. “Out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks,” Luke 6:45.

The things that come out of a man’s mouth when his guard is down is probably what is in his heart.

With that said, everyone deserves forgiveness for things that seem to be in the past. But in this instance, the words said do not seem to truly be in the past. He was never accosted for his atrocious words. And most importantly, it seems the words spoken are par for the course.

Donald Trump may have issued an apology for the words he said, but the fact that he can brush them off with a description of “locker room talk,” tells me that he does not believe what he said is truly bad. It tells me that this man says things like this all the time, because it is casual talk to him.

Ladies, please hear me when I say the words spoken by Trump are not normal. That is not what decent men talk about. Not even in high school. You mean so much more than that, and you deserve so much better than that.

If you’ve thrown in the towel for conservatism, pick it back up

Every day, there’s a feeling of dread that comes over me. It’s quick; I’ve learned to recognize it and either think through it if it’s mild or pray through it if it’s severe. The dread I feel is that the country and the world may be heading in directions from which we can never return. The road leading left. The direction of lawlessness. The path away from God.

Most days, I receive a stark reminder that we, the Christian Constitutional conservatives who once made up a large portion of America, are being assaulted from every angle. Liberalism has embedded itself in education and the media. Godlessness is en vogue. Perhaps worst of all, many of the once-diligent fighters for freedom and faith are cutting deals, making exceptions, and accepting that any attempts at purity or principles are futile and therefore we must sacrifice our values for the sake of expediency.

Some days, I think about throwing in the towel. I wonder what it would be like to move out of southern California to a secluded area away from the struggles. I could just focus on my family and my business and stay away from the tumult of politics and world events.

Today, I’m throwing away the towel altogether. Throwing it in the ring and declaring surrender is no longer an option and I encourage every God-fearing, America-loving person to do the same. This is a fight that will continue whether we defend ourselves or not. It’s a battle that will find its way into our personal backyards regardless of where we go or how well we prepare. We are in a time of world war in which the enemy wants to take away our principles. They want compliance. When they have enough people complying, they will demand obedience. Soon after they have obedience, the sole of their boots will be on our necks, a position from which we cannot recover.

I will not comply.

Faith, family and country are worth protecting. Retreat is not an option. They will find us no matter where we go. As we look at an upcoming election that will almost certainly give us one of two anti-freedom Presidents, the pressing need to be better and do more has increased. We must unite and fight. The Republican Party will no longer defend us as their leftward lurch has made it hard to distinguish them from Democrats. There are fighters within the party who can help, but they’re few and far between.

This is a call to all patriots, but in particular it’s a call to those who have thrown in their political towels. You, the people who have bled and wept for your country only to see it press onward towards oblivion, are the people who cannot give up hope. You must pick up your towel and get back in this fight. If nobody represents you in government, let’s put better people in there. If you’ve fought for good people who were pushed aside for more pragmatic/liberal alternatives, push forward for the next fight.

It’s not just about elections. This is about calling out those who push liberalism. It’s about calling out those who claim the conservative mantle during elections but who toss it aside while in office. It’s about declaring with a unified voice that life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness are still in play and therefore still require defense.

We are building a new party. It will be one based solely on principles. The conservative philosophy of defending our God-given rights has no real champions in party form. There are good Libertarians. There are good Constitution Party members. There are even good Republicans. However, no party has risen above the hypocrisy to focus its efforts on principles. That’s what we’re going to do. Pick up your towel and join us.

The two driving forces behind Trump’s claims of fraud and media bias

There’s a real fear manifesting around newsrooms and in government conference rooms around the country. Donald Trump and many of his top surrogates are hammering two ideas: voter fraud is going to steal the election from him and media bias is so rampant that the polls (which he once touted) are false.

Regarding the latter, I wholeheartedly agree. The media is biased in favor of Democrats. It’s important to note that they’re not biased specifically against Republicans; they hate Libertarians, socialists, Green Party candidates, and anyone who doesn’t have the (D) next to their name. Of course, that means that their arch nemeses are anyone with the letter (R) next to their name, but it’s important to understand that they stand supporting Democrats rather than opposing Republicans. It’s subtle, but it’s important, particularly as we strive to build a new conservative party.

With that out of the way, let’s address the former: voter fraud. Does it happen? Absolutely. Is it enough to swing an election? In some cases, yes. Is it enough to swing this election? Not at all. Unless something bigger than anything in Wikileaks’ bag of tricks comes out soon, Hillary Clinton is going to win many states that were once considered swing states by very large margins. If we’re being generous, voter fraud can account for a percentage point or two (though it’s usually much less than that). Spreading the notion that Trump would win Pennsylvania without voter fraud when polls show him down by nearly 7 points is ludicrous. This is why the media bias plays. He can’t just say the votes were rigged when he loses. He has to point out that the polls were rigged ahead of time as well.

The question that everyone seems to be asking is “why?” I’ll sound pompous by saying this, but it’s been blatantly obvious for months. Trump doesn’t care if he wins or loses the election. He has a win-win scenario. If anything, he is much better off if he loses the election. His long-time goal of having a Trump media empire to play with until he dies and to solidify his kids’ future is in play today. He knows that he needs video of Hillary Clinton killing baby animals to be leaked in order to have better than 6-1 odds of winning this thing. That’s the biggest reason that his rhetoric has been sharply shifted towards blaming everyone in recent weeks. He blames the GOP. He blames the crooked media. He’s pre-blaming voter fraud.

All of this is a setup to secure a lucrative mandate from his fervent base to get all the backing he needs for his media empire.

The GOP is crooked, so he needs Steve Bannon to clean them up. The media is crooked, so he needs Sean Hannity to set them straight. The system is broken, so he needs a platform to set it straight. This election has been his launching pad for something even bigger than the Presidency. This is a play for real, permanent power. He wants what Rupert Murdoch has, which is sad considering that Murdoch’s team is partially responsible for building what could become their most direct competitor.

This is also why I get annoyed by questions like, “Why is Trump’s son-in-law discussing creating a Trump television network?” The answer has been right there in front of us all since a couple of months after he launched his campaign. I suspect there are plenty of people who saw it coming before he even launched.

Does this mean that he’s trying to throw the election? No. He wants to win. He’s been trying to win. However, he’s been holding his media empire in his back pocket the whole time. It’s enabled him to get where he is today. He’s not a bold “straight talker” because that’s just his personality. Most don’t give him enough credit to realize that he’s cunning and calculating. He’s been able to take risks with his actions and words that are only possible when someone knows they have a safety net waiting down below if they fall off the edge. He wasn’t attempting to cheat political death when he made his bombastic attacks starting on day one. He needed the attention. If the attention won him the election, so be it. If it lost him the election, so be it. Either way, he wins in the end.

The second reason that he’s making all of these claims is because his ego demands it. He’s a winner. Every loss must be spun as a win. He didn’t fail with his multiple business collapses or bankruptcies. He wants us all to believe he was brilliant, making moves and staying a step ahead of disaster the whole time. The whining against voter fraud and media bias are simply scapegoats he’s creating so he can look an interviewer in the eye and said that he would have won if the system had been fair.

In retrospect, it’s clear that Trump was inevitable. He was going to do the damage he’s done to this country whether we liked it or not. It’s a bonus for him that he found enough people to like it. Now, he has a base that will follow him long enough to put their credit cards into his subscription-based media model. Love him or hate him, the way he’s played the party and the country is a masterpiece.

Actions or words? Trump supporters and detractors can’t make up their minds

Which is it? Do we listen to Trump’s words? Do we look at his actions? Do we believe his promises for the future or his history? Depending on the issue and the person you’re asking, you can bet that the reactions will be mixed. What none of them can say (without being in denial) is that we should look at both. Why? Because with Donald Trump, his actions vs words as well as his past vs promised future rarely match.

Supporters want us to judge him by his actions (having not been caught sexually assaulting women) and not his words (bragging to Billy Bush about sexually assaulting women). On the other hand, they want us to believe his promises (he says he’s pro-life, pro-gun, and will follow Republican economic growth principles) and not his history (he supported abortion, endorsed gun bans, and declared the economy worked better under Democrats).

Reverse those and you’ll see what his detractors want us to believe. They say his words about sexual assault mean that he obviously has performed the actions (though they didn’t think the same about Bill Clinton). They say his history as a liberal Democrat is meaningless since his rhetoric is to their right of their ideology.

Both sides like to pick and choose when to believe his words and when to credit his actions. Of course, the same can be said about Hillary Clinton. Imagine having a GOP nominee who could stay out of the media spotlight long enough for focus to fall on her numerous shortcomings.

Note regarding this site

Over the last few months, the majority of my political attention has been placed at The New Americana. My personal blog, Soshable, has even taken a hit as I’ve been working on the launch of the new conservative party and helping to keep the news up and running on the site. With the addition of a new editor coming on board (hopefully) soon, we’ll be able to put more effort into getting this site back in shape.

The goal will be to highlight our reactions to stories we see on other sites as well as to give short tidbits of opinions about the news. Yes, there may still be some longer posts, but the primary intention of this site is to keep it short and sweet (as you can see above). Keep checking back. God willing, we’ll get this site back to the glory days when it was drawing a pretty hefty number of visitors.

Reviving Conservative Haven

There was a time when this site showed promise of actually being something special. Traffic to the site was on a continuous rise. Writers were coming on board. It was going to be the place where conservatives could go and know that, despite the dreaded plague of liberalism throughout mainstream media, they could get a proper right-leaning perspective on the world.

Things happened. We launched a conservative news aggregator to combat the alt-right tendencies and mega-Trump-love coming from the big boy at Drudge Report. I still have a family to feed and a business to run, so this site fell through the cracks. For months, we’ve only managed a handful of posts.

That’s changing. We are in the process of bringing on a new full-time editor at The New Americana, so some of the writers and I will be able to put more emphasis on this site. The goal is to keep it relatively short here; more in-depth articles and commentaries will go on The New Americana while I’ll put my other longer writings at Soshable. Here, we’ll focus on reactions to the news rather than simply reporting the news itself.

Please check back often. We’re going to try to update it multiple times per day. I can promise that the talented writers posting here will have authoritative voices and fresh perspectives on the news. I’ve worked with many of them to harness their skills for discerning the truth and telling it from a conservative lens. Hopefully, you’ll find some pretty amazing content here regularly.

Stay tuned!

Another Century of Planned Parenthood Will Destroy This Country

Today, we “celebrate” a very important birthday. 100 years ago, Planned Parenthood was born. There’s a certain irony in that statement; the organization that attempts to prevent the birth of human beings was “born” a century ago. Let that sink in.

During that time, over seven million babies were killed by the organization. That’s not the way that they would put it, of course. Their narrative would be that seven million mothers were given a choice about their bodies, their lives. Unfortunately for them and Planned Parenthood, that narrative only stands up if you declare that a baby isn’t really a baby until it’s fully separated from the mother’s body.

These are moral questions for us to fight. While the political battle will likely rage for a long time, the moral battle is one that must be won very soon. Making abortion illegal may or may not happen, but if we rely solely on that notion, we’ll fall short. The battle must be won for the hearts and minds of the people in America and around the world. Otherwise, companies like Planned Parenthood will bring about our destruction as a race.

Here’s the story from Live Action News:

Planned Parenthood is celebrating what National Right to Life dubs the “saddest birthday ever.” The nation’s largest abortion provider turns 100 on October 16. As it commemorates its birthday, pro-lifers are memorializing the seven million babies’ lives Planned Parenthood has taken – just since 1970. And the number rises daily as this abortion counter reports. In its 100th year, Planned Parenthood has  already added another quarter million babies to its death toll. Thus, celebrating 100 years of its own life means celebrating over seven million deaths and counting.

Millions of voters have fallen for Dread Pirate Roberts’ trick (and why I won’t)

In the classic movie, The Princess Bride, we find our hero trying to save his love from the hands of the evil Vizzini. He challenges him to a battle of wits where Vizzini must discern which cup has poison and which is safe. Then, both will drink and the winner is the one not dead. The trick was on him, though. Both cups were poisoned. Wesley, aka Dread Pirate Roberts, had developed a tolerance for the poison, so regardless of which cup Vizzini chose, he would die and Wesley would live.

That’s the Presidential election of 2016 in a nutshell. The difference is that a few members of the political class and the media will be able to survive the poisonous choice of Hillary Clinton or Donald Trump. The rest of us are doomed to liberalism, incompetence, corruption, and potential destruction regardless of who wins. Hillary is more liberal than Trump. Trump is more incompetent than Hillary (and please don’t point to the real estate empire he was born into as proof that he’s not incompetent). Both are corrupt. Both give us a smorgasbord of directions from which our destruction can come once they’re in the Oval Office.

I am not voting for either candidate. I will not support either candidate. I will oppose both candidates. Trump supporters will say that this means I’m supporting Hillary. Hillary supporters will say that this means I’m supporting Trump. Both are wrong. Our nation was built on the dissent against the choices given to pre-revolution patriots by the ruling class. Those patriots, many of whom died fighting for the birth of the nation while others became the leaders who carried us through those formative years, did so against the call of the masses. People often forget or never learned that the American Revolution was not popular before it started. There wasn’t a massive uprising of the mighty majority to make it happen. Most Americans, unhappy as they may have been with the circumstances, would have preferred to work within the British system rather than oppose. This changed once the revolution started gaining traction, but if it were up to the masses, we would have ended the 18th century under the rule of the King.

These stories – The Princess Bride, election 2016, and the American Revolution all come together to help us see one clear path forward. Americans who are unhappy with the binary choice forced upon us should look outside of those choices without fear of wasting their efforts or votes. They shouldn’t drink from either poison cup. They shouldn’t bow down to the voice of the masses. Today, a large majority of Americans are firmly in Hillary’s camp or Trump’s camp. A good number of those people in the camps are there unwillingly, but they’re not going to leave out of fear for the other camp being stronger as a result. They carry the spirit of those against the American Revolution in their hearts; dissent at this point would be destructive in their opinions. I’m not saying this to insult them. The lukewarm supporters on both sides are doing what they think is right, but they’re still doing it out of fear. They fear the other side winning just as many unhappy subjects of King George feared going to war with England.

We have two choices to make. The first choice is easy: we need a new conservative party. Join it. Regardless of who wins, we cannot sit around and wait for this travesty to repeat itself next election, and the election after that, and after that, and…

The second choice is harder. Do we simply avoid the Presidential election? Do we vote for down ballot conservatives but skip the top of the ticket? Do we endorse and support a third party candidate?

I have looked at and spoken to 3rd-party conservatives. Right now, the only one who has any chance at all is Evan McMullin. His path is nearly impossible, but not completely impossible. We asked members of the new party if they thought we should endorse and the volume of replies was absolutely shocking. Regardless of how that plays out, we must speak directly to McMullin before endorsing. Most questions can be answered by simply watching his interviews and reading articles about him, but the question we haven’t had answered is: Does he have a real strategy to win this thing? If he can’t win, we won’t endorse. That’s not a question of whether or not he has the potential to win. We need to know if he has the strategy to win. The only way to know this is to hear it from his mouth.

Regardless of what happens with or without McMullin, it’s easy for me to say that I will not be voting for either major party candidate. They are disasters. Both sides are trying to put their cups closer to me, but I won’t drink from either. Suicide just isn’t my thing. As Vizzini said, “I can clearly not choose the wine in front of me.”

The Trump recording reveals nothing new. Stop acting shocked. Stop making excuses.

A man spent his life harming others. His multitude of business failures hung partners and employees out to dry. His casinos and the strip clubs in them enabled the degradation of moral fabric in ordinary Americans. His use of eminent domain, bankruptcies, and conning skills took money and property from tens of thousands. Most women in his life report a petty, misogynistic little man behind the empire his daddy gave him. Why would any thinking American be shocked by a video that clearly represents the character Donald Trump has always demonstrated?

The answer: you shouldn’t be shocked. Reince Priebus knew what kind of man Trump is, so his condemnation at the 11th hour is meaningless. Paul Ryan getting sickened now does little to change the fact that he was ready to give him a bear hug in Wisconsin. Marco Rubio and Rick Scott issued rebukes even though they knew Trump as well as any American. I could go down a very long list of Trump endorses who are suddenly “blindsided” by news that Trump’s a pig.

The Republican Party is broken. It’s not just the leadership within the GOP. The Moral Majority has been co-opted by “faith-based” con artists like Robert Jeffress, David Bozell, Ralph Reed, Joel Osteen, and Jerry Falwell Jr (whose father helped launch the Moral Majority in the first place). Those who refuse to support candidates with demonstrably poor principles seem to be few and far between, though Russell Moore and at least 70 others have been on the right side of the fight.

Then, there are the primary voters. I’d call them GOP voters, but it seemed as if Trump did best in open primaries. Those millions who either failed to see Trump’s lack of values or ignored them for the sake of the alt-right’s persistent chanting should not be shocked at all. The information about Trump has been available from the beginning. The signs were clear. The writing has been on the wall. It would be one thing if he were an amoral man who proved he was a great leader by building his empire from scratch. It would be different if he didn’t have a huge list of complete and utter business failures that show he is utterly incompetent outside of real estate and reality TV. He has always been a one-trick pony in business, and that one trick was given to him by his dad. Unfortunately, only 42% of Republicans are even aware that he was born into his empire.

None of you should be shocked by this latest evidence of the type of man Donald Trump is. The honorable thing would be to abandon his campaign as Jason Chaffetz and others have. Sadly, many will not. Party first.

Over the next month, we’re going to hear phrases like “we’re not electing a Pastor-in-Chief” or “nobody ever said he was a choir boy” or “everybody’s said something in private they’d regret if made public” or “what he said over a decade ago has no bearing on what he’ll do as President.” If he has a decent debate on Sunday night, the reactionary calls for him to step down as GOP nominee will subside and the focus will be turned to the issues. There’s still a chance for a miracle, for the GOP to oust him (as they should have done months ago) or for him to realize he’s in a losing battle. Then again, he’s also going against his Democratic doppelganger, a woman so corrupt she makes it hard to tell whether or not Trump is actually worse. As crazy as it seems today, there’s enough time for the ADHD American society to latch onto something positive and propel Trump to the White House.

There’s nothing shocking about Trump’s recorded remarks. The shocking thing will come in the next few days. If his debate performance is deemed positive, he’ll retain the nomination and has a chance of winning the election. You can accept that or not, but one thing his supporters need to do is stop making excuses. Accept him for his depravity and acknowledge that principles really don’t matter to you.

The Libertarian Party mess and why it gives hopes for a third party rising

For years, the Libertarian Party has been the protest vote. As the party that represents liberty within its name and individual freedoms within its platform, it was a natural fit for hundreds of thousands of conservatives who were done with the Republican Party. This was supposed to be their year. This was supposed to be the time when the Democrats and Republicans put up such weak candidates that the Libertarian Party could work its way into the debates and therefore into national prominence.

Then, they blew it. They decided to follow suit with the other parties by nominating their variation of a bad candidate. Gary Johnson seems to be a good man with some strong, albeit basic, ideas of how to fix the country. His qualities end there, though, as he has proven time and again on the campaign trail that he’s absolutely not ready to be Commander-in-Chief. Now, we’re seeing the party that had its best chance ever splitting; Vice Presidential candidate Bill Weld said this week he’s going to focus on hurting Trump while Johnson said he can’t win and will focus on attacking Hillary.

Another opportunity to break the two-party system was flushed down the toilet.

This seems like bad news for those who would like to see three or more valid options instead of the binary choices that have plagued this country for decades. In reality, it’s the best possible news. As we strive to grow our new conservative party, one of the biggest roadblocks has been convincing people that the current third-party options cannot be salvaged. The Constitution Party has never been able to reach any level of significance despite existing for a quarter century. America’s Party has some good people at its core, but its plan for growth is nonexistent. Both will end up showing no improvement from their 2012 voting numbers. Now, it seems the Libertarians are facing the same fate.

Our new party has already been gaining traction despite the facts that it won’t officially launch until after the election and as of today it does not have an official name. We have the working title of “Unified Conservative Party” and it’s just that – a working title. This has caused many to question us about the name, not realizing that as a working title, it won’t be the final version. As with all working titles, the idea is to have something that people can clearly understand. Sometimes, working titles end up being the final version. “Snakes on a Plane” was a working title that stuck. Our working title will not stick. Before launch, the real name will be revealed.

Where other third parties have failed is in velocity. Since the 19th century, they’ve never been able to achieve the proper velocity to be able to make a real impact. Achieving this velocity requires a party to remain under the radar until they have enough participants to jump into the scene. If they are revealed too early, the Establishment (unified from both major parties) will quash them immediately. The combination of three circumstances give us great hope for the future.

  1. Voter angst in 2016 gives us the mandate to move forward.
  2. Modern growth strategies that have only become available with the rise of social media and the internet empower us to take the message to the masses in ways that other third parties have failed miserably to accomplish.
  3. A passionate and talented core that is coming together nicely tells us that we’re onto something.

We probably wouldn’t even be talking about this had the Libertarian Party nominated Austin Petersen. They chose to go down the non-conservative road; in many ways, Johnson is more of a moonbat than a freedom guy. Still, it’s another indicator that this nation needs a strong and conservative third party to rise and enable patriots to lead America once again.

Trump supporters, stop playing the victim card and own your failure if it comes

The standard liberal mentality is to blame others. When a liberal sees a friend or someone in their family do something bad, they blame the system, the elites, or some other esoteric classification of “anybody but us.” When a liberal sees someone they don’t know fall into the hands of crime or perversion, they blame society. When a liberal sees their candidates lose, they blame the vast right-wing conspiracy.

The victim card has not been held exclusively by liberals, but they have a much higher predisposition for playing it. At least they used to. Today, we’re seeing another example in the form of Trump supporters. These “victims” are those on social media, mainstream media, and even in the bowels of the RNC itself that have been claiming the folks in the #NeverTrump camp will be to blame if Trump loses.

No. You have the burden of proof. You have the job of selling him to voters. You are the people responsible if Trump loses. If you are on the Trump Train, stop blaming those of us on the sidelines. We’ve looked at Donald Trump. We’ve looked at Hillary Clinton. We’ve decided that neither is acceptable. The fact that they represent the two parts of a binary choice for the next President of the United States does not instantly require us to pick one or the other. It also does not mean that voting third-party (or not voting at all) is a vote for Hillary. That’s a ludicrous and illogical claim. Is a vote for Gary Johnson a vote for Hillary? Is a vote for Jill Stein a vote for Trump? No.

If you are bound and determined to make the case for Trump or against Hillary, make your case. How will he make America great again and why should we believe that this time he’s not lying. Do you have anything Threats prove the point that Trump is such a weak candidate that his supporters have no redeeming value with which to grab hold. Argue his qualities. Don’t try to manufacture failures in our principles simply because you don’t share them.

The fatal blow will likely come to all of our freedoms regardless of which candidate loses this election less than the other. Don’t dishonor us simply because we’re not willing to strike a self-inflicted wound. Either show us how Trump has earned our vote or leave us alone about it. Either way, stop trying to blame us for your failure to make a valid case other than, “but Hillary.”

The Liberal Agenda will be Crafted by Debate Questions as Much as (or more than) the Answers

Some are reporting that there could be 100 million people watching the first debate between Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton. Moderator Lester Holt will be alone in his duties of asking the questions. We’ll all be paying attention to the answers, but the questions themselves are actually equally or more important.

This size of an audience gives mainstream media the opportunity to determine what we feel is important. Sorry to be the one to tell you this, folks, but that’s how the system works. Coverage is given to the items that the “powers that be” want covered. I’m not suggesting any conspiracy theories, here. It’s very well documented that the media contorts the sentiment of the nation around particular subjects through ongoing coverage of those items while stifling interest in other items based upon lack of coverage. It’s a classic case of the tail wagging the dog; they don’t simply listen to what we want them to report, but they also have a hand in reporting what they want us to see.

Holt is coming in with one major advantage: he’s a registered Republican. This means that the cards are already in play to counter any arguments that Trump was treated unfairly. This was done intentionally, not just for Trump’s sake but also for the sake of the overarching agenda itself. After watching Matt Lauer get skewered from both sides, they felt that Hold would be the least controversial host. They don’t want him in focus. They want the questions in focus.

This is when they have the biggest possible stage to craft the narrative.

Keep in mind that this is neither nothing new nor is it even that nefarious. It’s an ongoing battle between mainstream media and alternative media to keep our attentions in the wrong directions. Alternative media plays its part in highlighting the strange things that really shouldn’t be a concern while mainstream media keeps it simple by keeping our focus on the things they want us to see. This isn’t universal; there are plenty of smaller or alternative media sources that do a nice job, but unfortunately for the sake of pageviews they tend to lean towards crazy more often than not.

What’s the moral of the story? Watch the debate with discernment. Don’t just watch the answers carefully. Pay attention to the questions. There has been so much happening in the world the last year that we’ve become very easy to distract. This is their prime opportunity to keep the distractions coming.

Cruz Endorsement Won’t Help Trump or the GOP. In Fact…

This weekend, I will be posting on The New Americana about how the Ted Cruz endorsement of Donald Trump for President is the rallying call conservatives have needed to finally break free from the bonds of the GOP in order to form a new conservative party. This was based upon initial reactions from many NeverTrumpers who looked to Cruz as a leader. Their reactions were not as Trump or Cruz had likely hoped.

Before we get into that, it’s important to understand that I hold no bitterness towards Cruz. It became clear through his primary campaign that many of the things we clung to regarding Cruz as a principled conservative were negotiable. This didn’t make him any worse of a candidate in most of our eyes. It simply made us realize that he’s much more of a politician than we had initially hoped. No big deal, really. Just as we put our best foot forward easily during a first date but often struggle to maintain it as a relationship continues, the revelations early on that Cruz was a politician didn’t take away from the fact that he was the best candidate for the job.

This latest “betrayal” was simply a political move, one that will prove to be a poor one. By turning the attention away from Trump’s shortcomings and towards the existential threat that Hillary Clinton poses, Cruz attempted to justify his decision as a righteous one. He, Trump, and the GOP hoped that it would be a wakeup call to those of us opposed to Trump that we have a bigger battle to fight. It was the standard “lesser of two evils” argument that we’ve been hearing for months.

That’s the problem. We already know Hillary is an existential threat. Our concern is that Trump may be a little less of an existential threat or may be even worse. At this point, we don’t know and it was people like Cruz who we looked to in order to act as the conservative dissent against Trump’s leftward lurch. Cruz pointed to a mode disciplined campaign in recent weeks as justification for changing his mind. What he failed to mention is that Trump has changed in other ways since the convention as well. He’s exposed more of his liberal ideologies, pulling down his tax cuts, promoting big government spending, proposing a minimum wage increase, pushing for government-funded maternity leave, and a handful of other Democratic ideas being adopted by the GOP. In other words, Trump may be campaigning nicer, but he’s even MORE of a threat to society today than when Cruz failed to endorse him at the convention.

This is going to hurt the GOP. It brings to light the thing that conservatives have feared the most: an unchecked Trump. Please don’t take this as support for Hillary in any way, but the one thing she has going for her in the eyes of conservatives is that she’s a clear force for us to unite against an oppose. With Trump, the opposition from the right is currently scattered. It was people like Cruz who gave us at least a little hope that Trump could be reined in by conservatives if he were to win the Presidency. By endorsing, he loses his standing as a conservative dissenter to Trump’s liberal ways.

Some would say that an endorsement does not mean that someone has embraced them fully. I disagree. That’s not to say that endorses are incapable of dissent, but it takes away their core argument. Trump represents the new Republican Party, one that can finally achieve its long-term goal of being the moderate party rather than the conservative one. The more that conservatives like Cruz endorse Trump, the more relevant a new party becomes.

We will be building this party. With or without Cruz, the need for conservatives to have a valid and tangible voice has never been more clear. If anything, Cruz boarding the Trump Train is further justification and an example of how lost the GOP has become.

What the GOP Must Learn from Atlas Shrugged

For the third time in less than a week, I’m forced to invoke a book that I actually didn’t really like. Atlas Shrugged is a classic that made some great points about free market capitalism and personal responsibility, but it was a militantly anti-Christian story that glorified “enlightened” thinking outside of Biblical doctrine. Still, there are things that we can take away from it that are worth noting.

If you haven’t read it, I wouldn’t recommend it. Over the years it’s been put on a philosophical pedestal and glorified by many political pundits, particular Libertarian-leaning fiscal conservatives, but in my humble opinion it was above-average at best. Nonetheless, here’s my spoiler alert. I’ll be going into details about the ending which was utterly ludicrous in any reality other than three:

  1. If the world descends into a dystopian vision due to industrial economic collapse not brought on by war or natural catastrophe, the book’s end is viable.
  2. In a post-apocalyptic world that attempts and fails to properly rebuild, the end is viable.
  3. In the 2016 election where conservatism is tossed to the wolves, the end is applicable.

Obviously, I’m focusing on the last reality since it’s our reality.

Leave, Regroup, Rebuild

In Atlas Shrugged, the people who have the skills, drive, and ambition to succeed are the people who can save the collapsing socialist society around them. Unlike the realities we’re seeing around the world and the one that is emerging in America, the socialism described in Atlas Shrugged is hidden and subtle. It’s wrapped in a faux-totalitarian government that has embraced the ideas of crony capitalism without the benefits of a capitalistic engine upon which to mooch.

The capitalists, represented in Atlas Shrugged as industrialists and practical scientists, leave. The best minds are plucked from the world suddenly and completely. John Galt, the ideological leader of the movement, takes the people who can preserve society and hides them away in a mini-utopia off the map where they build a working community separate from the outside world.

They live for themselves and believe two concepts: paraphrasing, they will demand nothing of any other man and they will not accept demands from any other man.

The near future that they see is one where the world essentially collapses and falls back 100 years. Without the industrialists, trains will be replaced by horse and buggy. Electric light will be replaced by lanterns. Infrastructure will collapse. Dog will eat dog. When everything is so bad and the government is completely abolished, they will reemerge and rebuild.

This is the model that conservatives must adopt. We are the industrialists and practical scientists of the modern world. Through conservatism, the GOP has harnessed our proper and righteous mentalities in the campaign slogans, but have acted against the precepts. Just as the “looters” in Atlas Shrugged took from the industrialists, the Establishment has taken from conservatives their “fair” share while refusing to actually embrace the solutions that conservative politicians, pundits, and wonks have recommended.

For centuries in Atlas Shrugged, the looters took from the industrialists and accepted the benefits of their brainpower, then using it against them to promote an agenda that was contrary to the industrialists’ strengths and values. For decades, the Establishment has held the mantle of conservatism while practicing tactics to take conservatives down.

It’s time to depart. It’s time to leave the GOP. It’s time to take our ideas and talents to our own political party utopia and let the liberals in both parties battle to see who can do the most harm to the country, Unlike the industrialists in Atlas Shrugged, we will not wait for the collapse before we start taking action. We will regroup as quickly as possible under a new conservative party and begin preparations to rebuild conservatism and therefore the party itself.

It won’t be easy. When reading Atlas Shrugged, one is left with the feeling that everything would be fine and that the industrialists will be able to essentially reverse the apocalypse. Our situation as conservatives is the opposite. What we’re about to go through with the next liberal President isn’t necessarily going to be the apocalypse, but we’ll need all of our talents, effort, and the grace of God in order to make it possible. New parties have failed since the 19th century. We only have two things going for us:

  1. Never since the 19th century has there been a more suitable moment to galvanize conservatives behind a new party. The GOP has abandoned us with the expectation that we’ll return because we always do.
  2. We’re in the right. They, both major parties, are in the wrong.

By taking advantage of this unique political atmosphere and applying the principles of velocity and exceptionalism, defying the odds of building a new party can be achieved. Like the industrialists in Atlas Shrugged, we will allow the political landscape to hit rock bottom before bringing our ideas back to the table in a new and controlled manifestation. Conservatives will finally be able to call the shots. That’s the only way for America to see it’s brightest days once again.

The GOP will learn a lesson from this experience, but it won’t be what they expect. They’re looking for conservatives to come running back to Trump if he wins or the Establishment if he loses. We will do neither. They must be made to realize that we will no longer answer to the demands of the GOP, nor will we demand that the GOP appease us. Through a clean break, we’ll be able to heal conservatism and the nation quicker while building a stronger foundation around conservatism.
