Nobody likes to be heckled at a big event, but getting heckled at a small event can be even worse. GOP candidate Mike Huckabee (remember him?) found out first hand that having a heckler in a tight room can make everything uncomfortable.
The 2008 Republican runner up who has struggled to stay on the main debate stage in 2016 had to do some hardcore defending of Josh Duggar, the disgraced conservative who molested his own sister as a teenager and embarrassed his family further as a porn-addicted member of Ashley Madison. The problem with his defense is that it asked us all to not speak ill of the Duggars unless we knew them the way he does.
Here’s the problem with that. One does not need to be friends of the family to realize that the Duggars were not the model of Christian conservatism. They allowed their lives to go on public display and Huckabee tried to latch onto them as a beacon for his campaign. Unfortunately, he went too deep and by the time they were disgraced, he was already fully vested with them. That might be why he’s unlikely to crack the top five in Iowa, a state that he won in 2008.
