Fred V. Malek: Trump Must Stop Attacking Republicans

It’s part of Donald Trump’s nature. He attacks. It’s the childishness that has been present throughout his adult life that has made him a worldwide brand, a popular reality television star, the GOP nominee, and the likely loser of the general election. Why? Because he lashes out at anyone who doesn’t kiss his ring. When all is said and done, there will be a lot more who get “stung” by not bowing to The Donald.

The good news for Trump is that many Republicans are reluctantly boarding the Trump Train. It’s not that they love him. It’s that they can’t accept the possibility that Hillary Clinton could be our next President. She’s less popular among Republicans than any Democratic nominee since Walter Mondale. Her former boss, her replacement at the State Department, and her husband were all less-despised than she is.

Today, that works for Trump. As we get more and more doses of Trump, Republicans may find themselves unable to hold their nose. If he hopes to have any chance of winning, he’ll need to stop attacking fellow Republicans as Fred Malek, wrote at the Washington Post:

Trump may not like it, but he’s going to need to try to unify the party to support him rather than relying on the party to oppose Clinton. Today, it’s enough for him to be doing well in the polls, but the closer we get to the election and the more of Trump’s antics that we have to suffer through, the harder it’s going to be for him to win. He can’t surround himself with captive supporters throughout the election cycle.
