The progression of trailers for Mad Max: Fury Road have had fans of the original as well as those new to the franchise at the edge of their seats. Most who know the original are aware that it started off as an incredibly complex vision and deteriorated to the culmination in mediocrity. To renew and repent, the new movie appears to be a winner. There’s something that we’re noticing in the trailers, though. Charlize Theron‘s character may be more of a co-star rather than a true supporting character.
This would be different from the singular Max-focused original movies. The beautiful thing is that nobody seems to be worried. As much as we love Tom Hardy, the Max character was never particularly complex or even memorable other than being a badass. Add another badass in the form of a one-armed Theron and we might have something incredible on our hands.
