Americans (and the world) Must Prepare Spiritually for Hardships

One does not have to be a conspiracy theorist or prophecy junky to see that America and the world are changing. Things are becoming more secular. Living a life in faith is becoming less politically correct. It’s time to prepare.

Many people feel this and the solution often manifests itself in a desire to prepare physically. The rise of “preppers” has been mocked on television shows with labels thrown out towards anyone who stockpiles food, water, and ammunition in their garages. Many of these people look to changes in the government and in public sentiment. They feel the need to defend their lives and the lives of their family by preparing for hardships to come. We won’t go into the needs or challenges with this mentality other than to point out one thing: whether you want to prepare physically or not, you absolutely must be prepared spiritually.

Much of the world is already experiencing hardship over faith. That’s why this article singled out Americans specifically, though anyone living in a country where persecution for faith is light will face the same types of challenges. Whether it’s the government “coming for our guns,” natural disasters, economic collapse, revoking of rights, or any other worldly challenges that come, there’s only one requirement. We must stay faithful. We must be willing to maintain our belief and worship of Yeshua as Lord and Savior no matter what the world throws at us.

Spiritual “Preppers”

A common feeling that many worldly preppers have is that they have their faith covered and now they need to prepare physically. They are getting their survival gear, storing water, buying gold, building bunkers, and any of a plethora of prepper activities. They are training their children how to fire a weapon. They have maps in place of where they’ll go if they’re separated, how to hunt for food, where to find ammunition… the list of physical preparations that many are going through is huge.

Many see the changes and realize that times are getting weird, but they’re only preparing a little bit. An average American household has enough food for two weeks and very little water other than what’s in the tap. Maybe they have a “bug out bag” or some food stores, but not enough to live without assistance for very long.

Most are intentionally avoiding the issue. If disaster strikes, they’ll rely on the government to fix things.

Regardless of which category you fall into, it’s imperative that you prepare yourself and your family from a spiritual perspective. That doesn’t mean going to church every Sunday. That means learning the Word of God and understanding what can happen in the not-too-distant future. The Christians who are being murdered in the Middle East have a choice. They could denounce their faith in Yeshua the Messiah and claim allegiance to Allah. If they do, their lives will be spared, but they don’t. They are martyrs.

Are you prepared spiritually to be a martyr? If a knife is to your neck, are you certain that you would accept death? If a knife is to the neck of someone in your family, are they prepared? Would they let you die? Would you let them die?

For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it.Matthew 16:25 (KJV)

Nobody wants to think about it let alone talk about it with their family, but it’s the most important conversation you could have. This is why we are so against the teachings of people like Joel Osteen and others who promote the idea of living the best life today. This life is not the best life. The one to come is forever and glorious. Don’t sacrifice that life in order to save this one. Persevering to the end, regardless of what hardships or persecution you face, will be the ultimate test of your faith. Whether you’re a worldly prepper or not, you must be a spiritual prepper. You must know how to respond if things go crazy in our lifetime.

The Commitment to Persevere

Sometimes, it comes down to a simple promise. These thoughts are challenging to have and even harder to discuss, but if you don’t have them, you might be caught unprepared if hardships come suddenly.

Make the commitment yourself and then have the uncomfortable conversation with the family. Tell them that no matter what happens, regardless of any situation that could arise, that you’ll always stay faithful all the way to the end. All the way to death if necessary.

There is nothing that can be done to you in this world that can prevent you from keeping your faith if you keep the full Armor of God on you at all times.

Know the scriptures and understand that tribulation is ahead. It doesn’t matter whether or not you believe we are in the end times. It doesn’t even matter if you believe as most do in the pre-tribulation rapture. There are people even in America who have been faced with the same choice of faith versus denouncing faith that those in the Middle East have faced. With the Islamic State’s influence growing around the world, it’s possible for anyone to be faced with a choice over persecution.

This isn’t intended to scare people. We truly have nothing to fear as long as we understand in our hearts that our commitment to persevere is strong. No matter what circumstance falls upon you, make certain that your commitment is strong and that you will never denounce your faith.
