Isaiah 53:7 – Lamb to the Slaughter

Isaiah 53:7

Isaiah 53:7

He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth.

Old Testament prophecies that came true through Yeshua are often used as a way to say that the New Testament was written to coincide with the Old. This is a convenient argument since there is no way known today to disprove the assertion scientifically, but that’s part of the beauty of faith.

Isaiah speaks often of the life and death of the Messiah. In this verse, he describes a portion of the last hours of Jesus Christ, how he was brought to have his human body slain by men and knew that there was nothing that he needed to say to them. It’s such bravery and defiance in the name of the Lord that should act as an example to those who will face lesser persecutions today and in the future. As Christians continue to be hit by an onslaught from multiple sides, we must look to our Lord as he prepared to deliver the ultimate sacrifice.
