Halting refugee entry is not discrimination. It’s prudence.

Terror Attack in Paris

Alabama Governor Robert Bentley and Michigan Governor Rick Snyder are doing the right thing for their states, their citizens, and the country. Calling a halt to acceptance of Syrian refugees is not an act of discrimination or an overzealous sense of fear. It’s just plain prudence.

Gov. Bentley took to Twitter and both hit the Sunday morning news shows to explain their prudence. In no way was their a message of hate or discrimination.

By refusing the refugees, they put the Obama administration in a pickle. While the federal government has within its power the right to accept the refugees, it cannot compel states to accept them. He won’t have to, of course. There are plenty of liberal states who will go against the feelings of their own citizens for the sake of political correctness.

The revelation that at least one of the attackers in Paris on Friday came over after infiltrating Syrian refugees represented the coming to pass of the worst fear for those who have been skeptical.

It should also be noted that at least one person allegedly involved with the attacks and currently being sought by authorities was a woman. This goes against the concept that only men are involved in Islamic extremism.

It’s certain that the tragic circumstances in Syria and throughout the Middle East require action by the whole world, including the United States. That doesn’t mean that we must risk the safety of our own citizens as a result.
