Another week, another call for weaker GOP candidates to drop out

Mike Huckabee Should Drop Out

There are seven valid Republican candidates. The rest have practically zero chance of winning the nomination and are currently hurting their party as well as making it more likely for their nemesis, Donald Trump, to win the nomination.

Here are the valid candidates in order of current validity. That’s not to say that this order is based upon their likelihood of winning the nomination, but more so based upon their campaigns’ worthiness to still be in play. In other words, these are the candidates that have earned their right to be considered:

  • Donald Trump
  • Ben Carson
  • Ted Cruz
  • Jeb Bush
  • Marco Rubio
  • Carly Fiorina
  • John Kasich

Those of you who are not on this list, we appreciate your time and efforts, but if you could quickly and quietly exit through the door in the back of the room, that would be great. We appreciate your compliance.

Rand Paul, Chris Christie, and Mike Huckabee would normally be on this list, but they got Trumped (or in the case of Huckabee, he got Carsoned and Cruzed). Paul in particular is hurting his chances of remaining in the Senate as well as making a future run at the White House. Huckabee had his chance in 2008 but missed. Christie had has chance in 2012 but passed.

John Kasich isn’t polling well and is acting foolish during debates, but he has Ohio. That’s important. If Bush wasn’t floundering and if Rubio didn’t have problems mounting, I would say that he should be on the drop list, but there’s still an outside chance for her.

Fiorina is a wild card. She’s demonstrated the ability to skyrocket but if she doesn’t pull another trick out of her hat very soon, she too will become a distraction if she doesn’t place well in any of the first four primaries/caucuses.

The five others (yes, even Bush) have a chance to raise funds in January and make a solid run at it.

The sooner that the uncandidates make their exit, the better it will be for the Republican party.
