Will Netanhyahu Turn More Towards Scripture to Lead Israel?

Binyamin Netanyahu Speech at the UN

When holding together a nation with so much polarization amongst the people, it is often hard to balance the doctrines of God as told in the Bible with modern day needs. As politicians go, Binyamin Netanyahu has been more outward with his faith as President of Israel than others in recent times. He is faced with as much potential peril as any previous Israeli leader, potentially even more so with a nuclear-armed Iran.

He did turn to Scripture in his address to the United Nations last week. According to Joel Rosenberg, it was the first he had heard of an Israeli leader looking to Bible prophecy in a public announcement to the UN. Is this a sign for future references to the Holy Word? Is this further indications that this generation may be living in the end times?

“In our time the Biblical prophecies are being realized,” Israel Prime Minister Netanyahu declared before world leaders gathered at the United Nations General Assembly on Tuesday.

“As the prophet Amos said, they shall rebuild ruined cities and inhabit them,” Netanyahu said. “They shall plant vineyards and drink their wine. They shall till gardens and eat their fruit. And I will plant them upon their soil never to be uprooted again. Ladies and gentlemen, the people of Israel have come home never to be uprooted again.”
