Human rights officially replaced by trade deals on British government priority list

Sir Simon McDonald, Permanent Secretary of Great Britain’s Foreign Office, has come out and admitted what many have speculated about all along. Protection of human rights is no longer a priority for the government, replaced by the internal prosperity that comes when they focus on trade deals.

Yes, trade deals.

This sentiment has been echoed in other world powers, but Great Britain has always maintained a leadership role in righting the wrongs around the world. That’s not going to be the case anymore.

This represents a combination of Great Britain’s dwindling world power and increased domestic needs. It also represents the sentiment of a people who have been involved in human rights issues for decades.
