European nations want Monsanto GMO crops out

Food giant Monsanto won a huge battle by getting their genetically modified crops approved in the European Union. The victory has been diminishing as individual EU nations have been pushing to opt-out of allowing those crops in their lands.

Out of 28 member nations, 19 have asked to be excluded from hopping on the Monsanto bandwagon. It was only for one crop – GM maize MON 810 – but many Europeans see it as a gateway that would allow further genetic manipulations to enter their food stream.

Will America ever wake up and see what Europeans and South Americans have known for a while?
