Ted Cruz is the Right Man to Craft the Supreme Court

Antonin Scalia has died. President Obama will attempt to fill his Supreme Court seat with an activist liberal judge. Ted Cruz (and to his credit, Marco Rubio) will attempt to prevent this from happening so that the next President, hopefully a Republican, can choose. More importantly, there are two or three others who will likely leave their seats within the next two Presidential terms.

Not only do we need a Republican, but we need to make sure the next President is a conservative. Donald Trump is not a conservative and has declared that he intends to nominate his pro-abortion, anti-second-amendment sister. She is just the tip of the iceberg.

Here’s an absolute guarantee: if Trump is the nominee, he will likely lose to the Democrats. If he is somehow able to win, he will put the wrong people in the Supreme Court. Either way, the Supreme Court will be damaged irreparably by a Trump nomination.

No candidate has been before the Supreme Court as often as Cruz. No candidate is more aware of the stances of federal judges as Cruz who researched and worked with many of them as Solicitor General. No candidate has the conservative backbone that Cruz has, especially as it pertains to religious freedom, abortion, the LGBT battle, and the Second Amendment.

Cruz, Rubio, and Ben Carson will almost certainly put conservatives on the bench. Jeb Bush and John Kasich are question marks, especially when looking at appointees both made in their states as Governor. Trump has already declared he’ll put at least one liberal on the bench.

Now is not the time to roll the dice and hope that we get conservatives placed on the bench. We have to know for sure. The rights and values of the country are in the balance.
