Rubio’s Financial Deceit, Lack of Accomplishments Make Him a Terrible Nominee

The Republicans have shown decorum in not attacking Marco Rubio’s personal financial follies and have, for the most part, avoided discussing his complete lack of anything substantial achieved in his two decades in politics. The Democrats will not have the same decorum and they will humiliate his utter ineffectiveness as a politician.

All of this is hard to say because I really like Rubio. I believe he’s more conservative than past nominees and is unabashed in proclaiming his faith. If he’d waited 4-8 years to run, I’d probably support him. He needed to make space between his stupid financial missteps and he absolutely needed to accomplish something. As I’ve said before, one of Hillary Clinton’s biggest vulnerabilities that should be exploited by the Republicans in the general election is that she’s spent two decade in politics with very minimal accomplishments. In fact, she has fewer notable accomplishments than any Republican candidate other than Rubio. By nominating Rubio, we’re dropping one of the party’s best weapons. Putting Rubio’s unaccomplished career against Clinton’s is the same type of mistake that we made in 2012 when we declawed our attack route with Obamacare by nominating the architect of Romneycare.

Of course, the financial weaknesses of both Bernie Sanders and Clinton can be easily exploited as well, but not by Rubio. Between using a government credit card on multiple occasions for personal benefits such as paving his driveway and taking a family vacation, the Democrats will point to him as someone who took advantage of political privilege. Then, they’ll point out that he had to be bailed out with a large book advance in order to pay off his tremendous debt, but still had to buy himself an $80,000 boat because he “couldn’t resist his dream” even if it put his family into further financial distress. He didn’t just face foreclosure and build up debt based upon bad circumstances. He was deceitful about the way he handled his and the government’s money and he’s been trying to hide from his past ever since. The GOP gave him a pass. The Democrats will not. They will eat him alive.

Rubio has this aura of electibility being generated by mainstream media and their puppeteers in the Republican Establishment. He’s far from being the “most electable.” If it weren’t for Donald Trump, Rubio would be the least electable of all of the candidates, including many who have already dropped out. He can win the nomination… through a brokered convention. His prospects in the general election once the Democratic attack machine goes after him are much worse than Ted Cruz, John Kasich, Jeb Bush, or even Ben Carson.

I really like Marco Rubio’s charm and most of his policy proposals. However, I’m not hip on nominating another candidate who has baggage that will prevent him from winning the general election. Rubio would lose big time to Clinton or Sanders.
