While the rest of the world seems to be warming to moderate Iranian President Hassan Rouhani, Israel’s Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu tried to warn US President Barack Obama and the United Nations that Rouhani is a “wolf in sheep’s clothing.”
His assertions seem to be true, though veiled behind an air of reduced extremism. Despite the Iranian President’s unwillingness to stop supporting terrorists and the fact that he has been a propelling force for Iran’s nuclear weapons initiatives even before becoming president, the world seems to be viewing him as a kinder, gentler leader and a potential beacon for positive change in the Middle East. Israel has been in a constant state of danger since it became a nation again and thanks to the Grace of God they have not suffered the types of losses that could easily have fallen on the tiny country. Still, this puts them in an isolated position and the United States seems unwilling to be more aggressive with Iran.

But their White House meeting on Monday night failed to assuage or disguise deep Israeli unease about the ramifications of a possible rapprochement between Washington and Tehran, and the overall direction of Obama’s Middle East policy.
