Pray for All Syrians

Syrian Church

As Christians, it is easy for us to want to pray for the Christians being persecuted in Syria. They are being attacked. They are being driven from their homes and forced into other lands. They are losing everything. They need help.

One thing that many Christians are forgetting is that the believers in the land aren’t the only ones that need our prayers. In fact, they actually need our prayers less than the non-Christians. During times of turmoil, it’s human nature to want to protect your own, to consolidate efforts, aid, and prayers around the “good guys” in a land that is mostly Muslim, but that’s not the approach that is most beneficial. Today, we need to help non-believers in any way we can to come to the light and accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.

The Christians in Syria are experiencing a terrible circumstance. It’s heartbreaking from a purely human perspective, but the true believers are in the best shape in the country as long as they keep their faith strong. Is their life extremely hard right now? Yes. Is it a challenge to be faithful to the Bible and the teachings of Yeshua in times like these? Absolutely, which is why we must pray for them to be strong and persevere through the turmoil. However, if they suffer in this life, if they lose everything, even their lives, and they remain diligent to the end as true believers in Christ, they will be taken care of in the next life. In essence, they need less help than everyone else in the country.

It’s those people, the Muslims and other non-believers in Christ, that desperately need our prayers as well as our help. If they continue in their ways, they are doomed. They may be in a better situation in this life but their souls will be lost if they do not find the repentant heart of a servant as they embrace Yeshua as their Messiah. Those are the people that truly need the help of the world in general and Christians in particular.

The video below from CBN paints a wrenching picture of the hardships that Christians in Syria are facing right now, but remember that their protection is unnecessary. The true believers in Syria already have the ultimate protector on their side. He will take those who remain strong in their faith up into heaven at the appointed time. There is nothing we can do that can compare to what Jesus has already done for them by dying on the cross for our sins. Instead, we should focus our prayers, efforts, and aid on delivering the message of the Gospel to those who need it most right now and who are potentially most open to receive it – the peaceful Syrian non-believers who are caught in the middle of this bloody war. They must be shown the light.
