There has never been a doubt by anyone, even his supporters, that Donald Trump is a narcissist. He loves himself. He makes no attempt to hide the fact. The way that he reacts to attacks is indicative of someone who operates well as a bully but crumbles when people ask him questions that make him look bad. Donald Trump is a winner but he’s not a leader for this country. He continues to prove this almost every day but put a big spotlight on it with his 9/11 Tweets.
I know what you’re probably thinking, especially if you’re a Trump supporter. Who cares about Twitter? Those of us who use it regularly, and there are millions of Americans that fall into that category, realize that it’s one of the only ways for a person of power to communicate their perspectives to the people effectively. Televised speeches can be interesting but they usually don’t encapsulate one’s feelings on a matter other than the sound bites we hear. Commercials, YouTube videos, and Facebook posts are usually produced by campaign PR firms. Tweets, for all of their flaws, normally indicate what a candidate and their team feel in an encapsulation of 140 characters. In other words, Tweets seem to be the best possible reflection of a candidate’s heart.
Starting at around 9am Eastern time, Donald Trump started his normal Twitter routine: promote his amazing popularity and insult other candidates. Around two hours later, as if someone reminded him that it was September 11, he threw out a Tweet mentioning it. Then, he discussed how he just purchased the other half of the Miss Universe Organization from NBC and had settled all lawsuits. At least 9/11 was mixed in with his promotions and attacks.
As of 1pm Eastern, most of the other candidates have Tweeted about 9/11 and issues that are facing our country. If you combine all of the candidates’ self-promoting Tweets from this day, Trump’s total still trumps them all. It should also be noted that most of the other major candidates posted first about 9/11 before moving on to other Tweets. Some posted more than one 9/11 Tweet. Here’s a sampling.

On 9/11, we should also pause to remember 4 Americans killed by terrorists in Benghazi, Libya on this day in 2012. They are not forgotten.

In the whole scheme of things, Twitter isn’t that important. However, it’s a lens through which we can see some of the candidates in their most raw form. A raw Donald Trump is even less of a leader of this country than a filtered, produced version.
Of course, Trump supporters will say that he’s just being real and that everyone else is using 9/11 as a way to get attention. That seems to be the story from Trump’s supporters every time he does something that goes contrary to what Americans should expect from their President.
