Which is it? Do we listen to Trump’s words? Do we look at his actions? Do we believe his promises for the future or his history? Depending on the issue and the person you’re asking, you can bet that the reactions will be mixed. What none of them can say (without being in denial) is that we should look at both. Why? Because with Donald Trump, his actions vs words as well as his past vs promised future rarely match.
Supporters want us to judge him by his actions (having not been caught sexually assaulting women) and not his words (bragging to Billy Bush about sexually assaulting women). On the other hand, they want us to believe his promises (he says he’s pro-life, pro-gun, and will follow Republican economic growth principles) and not his history (he supported abortion, endorsed gun bans, and declared the economy worked better under Democrats).
Reverse those and you’ll see what his detractors want us to believe. They say his words about sexual assault mean that he obviously has performed the actions (though they didn’t think the same about Bill Clinton). They say his history as a liberal Democrat is meaningless since his rhetoric is to their right of their ideology.
Both sides like to pick and choose when to believe his words and when to credit his actions. Of course, the same can be said about Hillary Clinton. Imagine having a GOP nominee who could stay out of the media spotlight long enough for focus to fall on her numerous shortcomings.
Note regarding this site
Over the last few months, the majority of my political attention has been placed at The New Americana. My personal blog, Soshable, has even taken a hit as I’ve been working on the launch of the new conservative party and helping to keep the news up and running on the site. With the addition of a new editor coming on board (hopefully) soon, we’ll be able to put more effort into getting this site back in shape.
The goal will be to highlight our reactions to stories we see on other sites as well as to give short tidbits of opinions about the news. Yes, there may still be some longer posts, but the primary intention of this site is to keep it short and sweet (as you can see above). Keep checking back. God willing, we’ll get this site back to the glory days when it was drawing a pretty hefty number of visitors.
